Chanel does not sell a bag called a Jumbo. It does not sell one called a Medium either. Yet those are the two words Malaysian listings use most, and the confusion they cause is expensive: a "Medium" on one seller's page is a 10-inch bag, on another's it is a 9-inch bag, and the difference between them at the boutique is over RM 2,000.
This guide settles it. Below is every Chanel Classic Flap size measured the way the trade actually measures them — in inches, by width — with the full centimetre dimensions alongside, the official Chanel style code for each, what each size realistically holds, and what they cost new and pre-owned in Malaysia.
The Short Answer: Classic Flap Sizes by Width, in Inches
Ask any dealer in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong or Tokyo what size a flap is and the answer comes back as a single number — the width of the bag in inches. Learn these five and you can read almost any listing:

The inch figures are rounded to the nearest whole number, which is how the trade quotes them. The exact conversions are 12.99", 11.81", 10.04", 9.06", 7.87" and 6.69" — close enough that the round numbers are safe to work with, and the full three-dimension measurements are in the chart below.
First, the Names: What Chanel Calls Each Size vs What Everyone Else Calls It
This is the root of nearly every sizing argument. Chanel's own website lists the flap family as Mini, Small, Classic 11.12, Large and Maxi Jumbo. The resale market, which has been using its own vocabulary since the 1990s, calls the same five bags Mini, Small, Medium, Jumbo and Maxi Jumbo.
So when a seller says "Jumbo", they mean the 12-inch bag Chanel calls Large (A58600). When they say "Medium", they mean the 10-inch bag Chanel calls the Classic 11.12 (A01112) — named for 11 February 1955, the month Gabrielle Chanel released the original 2.55. Neither seller is wrong. They are just speaking a different language from the boutique.
The two things that never change are the width in inches and the style code: the letter-and-number reference on the box label, the authenticity card and the original receipt. Between them you never have to trust an adjective again.

All dimensions are Chanel's own published measurements, taken from chanel.com product pages in September 2026. Chanel lists them as height × width × depth.

Two notes on reading these numbers. First, Chanel's depth figure is measured at the base with the bag empty — most authenticators and resellers quote the 9-inch and 10-inch at about 2.75" (7 cm) rather than 2.4" and 2.6", because that is what a tape measure reads on a bag that has been carried. Treat a quarter-inch difference in depth as normal, not as a red flag. Second, lambskin softens and slouches with wear while caviar holds its shape, so two genuine bags of the same style code can measure fractionally differently.
The two rarer sizes
There is also an Extra Mini (A65050), roughly 6.75" wide (17 cm) but much shallower in height than the Mini Square, and a smaller rectangular mini introduced in 2024 at around 7" wide (18 cm). Both appear occasionally on the secondary market and are easy to mistake for the standard minis, so check the code rather than the silhouette.
Every Size, Size by Size
Mini Square — 7 inch — A35200 (5.3 × 6.7 × 3.1 in / 13.5 × 17 × 8 cm)
The boxier of the two minis, and the deeper one: at 3.1" it is proportionally deeper than the Jumbo. A phone, a card holder, a lipstick and a key fob fit; a long wallet does not. It wears highest on the body of any flap and is the one most often bought as a first Chanel or an evening bag. The square is generally the harder of the two minis to find in good condition, because it has been produced in smaller numbers in recent years.
Mini Rectangular — 8 inch — A69900 (4.7 × 7.9 × 2.4 in / 12 × 20 × 6 cm)
Longer and flatter than the square, and the more popular of the two. The extra inch of width takes a larger phone comfortably, and the longer chain drop makes it the easiest mini to wear crossbody. This is the size that has held its value most stubbornly in Malaysia — near-new examples sell within about 10% of boutique.
Small — 9 inch — A01113 (5.7 × 9.1 × 2.4 in / 14.5 × 23 × 6 cm)
The 9-inch. It takes a phone, a card case, a compact and keys, and a slim long wallet if you are willing to let it sit snugly. It is the size most often mislabelled: Malaysian listings frequently call it a "Medium", and just as frequently call the 10-inch 11.12 a "Small". If the listing says Medium and the width measures 9 inches, it is an A01113.
Medium — 10 inch — Classic 11.12, A01112 (6.1 × 10 × 2.6 in / 15.5 × 25.5 × 6.5 cm)
The default Chanel, and the size the house itself treats as the reference point. One inch wider than the 9-inch, which sounds trivial and is not: a full-size long wallet lies flat, a small pouch fits alongside it, and the bag still reads as an evening bag rather than a day bag. If you are buying one Classic Flap and have no strong view, this is the one. It is also the most liquid size on the Malaysian resale market — easiest to buy, easiest to sell.
Jumbo — 12 inch — Large Classic Handbag, A58600 (7.7 × 11.8 × 3.9 in / 19.5 × 30 × 10 cm)
The jump from the 10-inch to the 12-inch is the biggest step in the range: nearly two inches wider, an inch and a half taller and — the part people miss — 3.9" deep instead of 2.6". That depth is why the Jumbo swallows a long wallet, a glasses case, a compact umbrella and a small pouch without bulging, and why it looks noticeably bigger in person than the numbers suggest. Worn doubled it sits at the hip; single-chained it hangs crossbody.
Maxi Jumbo — 13 inch — A58601 (9.1 × 13 × 3.9 in / 23 × 33 × 10 cm)
The largest Classic Flap in current production. Same 3.9" depth as the Jumbo, but an inch wider and an inch and a half taller — enough for an A4 folder on its side, a tablet, or the school-run-and-office load. It is the most expensive Classic Flap at the boutique and, counterintuitively, one of the cheapest pre-owned. In lambskin it is a heavy bag once loaded; if you want a Maxi you will carry daily, caviar is the sensible choice.
Chain and Strap Drops
Capacity is only half the decision. How the bag sits on you is the other half, and Classic Flap chains vary more than most buyers expect. Figures below are approximate and vary slightly by production year — measure before you commit if crossbody wear matters to you.

The practical point: the 10-inch Medium is the size people most often assume will work crossbody and then find sits awkwardly high. If crossbody is non-negotiable and you want capacity, the 12-inch Jumbo is the better answer.
Which Size Should You Buy?
If you carry a phone, cards and a lipstick — the 8-inch Mini Rectangular. Easiest to wear, holds its value best, cheapest entry to the line.
If you want one bag for dinners and light days out — the 9-inch Small. Enough for a slim wallet, still elegant on a petite frame.
If you want the definitive Chanel and can only own one — the 10-inch Medium 11.12. Most versatile, most liquid on resale, the silhouette everyone pictures.
If it has to work for a full day, or you are taller — the 12-inch Jumbo. The depth is the reason, not the width.
If you need to carry documents or a tablet — the 13-inch Maxi, and buy it in caviar.
One more consideration that matters in Malaysia specifically: resale liquidity runs in the opposite direction to size. The 8-inch and 10-inch sell fastest and closest to retail; 12-inch and 13-inch sell for the deepest discounts. If you are buying pre-owned, that works in your favour on the big sizes. If you are buying to eventually resell, it works against you.
What Each Size Costs in Malaysia: Boutique vs Pre-Owned
Chanel publishes Malaysian prices for some pieces but not for the full handbag range, so the boutique column below comes from Bragmybag's Malaysia price tracker, read in September 2026. The pre-owned column is realised selling prices from our own invoices between December 2024 and August 2026 — not asking prices.

The discount grows with the bag. A 12-inch Jumbo costs RM 57,280 at the counter and has never cleared RM 20,000 with us. A Mini costs around RM 25,000 new and sells near-new for RM 23,500–24,000. The 13-inch Maxi — the most expensive Classic Flap at retail — consistently sells for less pre-owned than the 10-inch that sits below it.
Black caviar is its own market within every size. Narrow our 12-inch sales to black caviar double flaps and the range tightens from RM 6,861–19,928 to RM 14,649–19,928. Lambskin, patent and seasonal colours produce the bottom of every band.
Single versus double flap is worth thousands. Among 12-inch Jumbos, single-flap examples sold for RM 6,861–14,799 and double flaps for RM 14,649–19,928 in comparable condition. Malaysian listings often omit it. Ask.

How to Confirm a Size Before You Buy Pre-Owned
Ask for the width in inches, not the size name. 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 or 13. Ask the seller to lay a tape along the bottom edge and photograph it. Front-on photos at flattering angles are how a 9-inch becomes a "Medium".
Then confirm it with the style code. Request a photo of the box label, authenticity card or receipt and match the first six characters against the chart above: A35200, A69900, A01113, A01112, A58600, A58601. Width plus code removes almost every sizing dispute.
Check the depth too. It is the one dimension listings never mention and the one that decides what actually fits. About 2.5–2.75" on the 9-inch and 10-inch, and 3.9" on the 12-inch and 13-inch.
Open it and count the flaps. A double flap has a second flap inside covering the main compartment. On a 12-inch that detail alone has been worth several thousand ringgit in our sales.
Confirm the leather. Caviar is grained and catches light unevenly; lambskin is smooth and shows pressure marks. Same size, materially different price.
