Ask five Malaysian sellers what size a Chanel Coco Handle is and you will get five different answers for the same bag. One calls it a Mini. Another calls the identical piece a Small. A third lists it as Medium. None of them are lying — the Coco Handle simply has three competing naming systems, and the confusion costs buyers real money.

This guide fixes that. Below you will find every Coco Handle size with the dimensions Chanel itself publishes, the style code Chanel assigns to each size, the names you will actually see on Carousell and reseller sites, and what each size has actually sold for pre-owned in Malaysia — drawn from nearly thirty Coco Handle sales in our own records going back to 2017.

A Quick Introduction to the Coco Handle

The bag most of us call the Coco Handle is not called that by Chanel. Its official name is the Flap Bag with Top Handle; "Coco Handle" is the nickname the market gave it, and it stuck. It first appeared in Chanel's Pre-Fall 2015 collection and has since become part of the permanent line — Chanel's website lists it today as part of its "Emblematics" collection.

The silhouette is a structured, slightly trapezoid flap with diamond quilting (chevron in some seasons), a CC turn-lock closure, a rigid top handle that stands upright even when the bag is set down, and a chain-and-leather strap so it can be carried by hand, on the shoulder or crossbody. Early pieces had a fixed chain; current production has a detachable strap. The most common leather is grained calfskin — what everyone calls caviar — with smooth lambskin, tweed and velvet appearing seasonally. Older pieces often carry a lizard-skin top handle; Chanel discontinued the genuine lizard handle around 2019 and replaced it with calfskin or lizard-embossed calfskin, which is why lizard-handle pieces are now sought after on the secondary market.

The Size Chart: Every Coco Handle Size in cm and Inches

The single most reliable way to identify a Coco Handle's size is the style code — the letter-and-number reference printed on the box label and the original receipt (for example, A92991 B05061 94305, where the first six characters identify the size). Names change depending on who is selling; the code does not.

Dimensions below are Chanel's own published measurements, listed as height × width × depth.

Two things are worth noticing. First, the jump from Chanel's "Large" (A92991) to "Maxi" (A92992) is mostly height — the width goes from 29 cm to 33 cm, but the bag grows 4 cm taller. Second, the size most Malaysian listings describe as a "Medium Coco Handle" or "29cm Coco Handle" is the A92991 — the one Chanel calls Large. If a listing says Medium and the measurements read roughly 29 × 18 × 12 cm, you are looking at the same bag.

What about the "Micro" or "Extra Mini" (AP4244)?

There is a sixth, much smaller bag in the family with style code AP4244. Japanese and Singaporean resellers list it as the Coco Handle "Extra Mini"; we list it as the Micro Coco Handle. It is a distinct style rather than a scaled-down Mini — the piece currently in our collection measures roughly 16 × 11.5 × 4.5 cm (6.25" × 4.5" × 1.8") with a 2-inch handle drop and a 22.5-inch strap drop. Think of it as a phone-and-cards bag with a top handle, not a smaller version of the A92990.

Which Size Fits What You Actually Carry

Rather than repeat the vague "fits your essentials" line, here is how to think about each size using the measurements themselves.

Mini (AS2215, 19 cm wide). The 19 cm width is only a little longer than most current smartphones, and the 9 cm depth is generous for the size, so a phone, a card holder, keys and a lipstick are realistic. A full-length wallet is not. This is the dinner, wedding and weekend size, and the cheapest way into the style at the boutique.

Small (A92990, 24 cm wide). The one most people mean when they say "the Coco Handle". At 24 × 14 × 10 cm a phone, a long wallet laid flat, keys and a small pouch fit comfortably, and it still sits neatly crossbody. If you want one bag that does office days and evenings, this is usually the answer — and it is the size most often mislabelled as "Mini" online, so check the code.

Large / "Medium 29cm" (A92991). A working-day bag. At 29 × 18 × 12 cm a long wallet, a full-size pouch and a small e-reader will fit. It carries best by hand or on the shoulder; crossbody is possible but the bag sits wide on a petite frame. It is also the size we have sold most often — more than half of every Coco Handle we have ever sold has been a 29 cm — and, as the sales figures below show, the one that gives you the most bag for your ringgit.

Maxi / "Large 32cm" (A92992). Chanel quotes 33 cm; measured across the base our pieces have come in at about 32 cm, which is how Malaysian sellers usually label it. At this size it will take an A5 notebook. It is very much a tote-alternative rather than an evening bag, and it is rare on the local market — we have sold two in nine years.

What a Coco Handle Costs in Malaysia: Boutique vs Pre-Owned

Boutique retail, then and now

Where a Coco Handle has come to us with its receipt, our intake records note the retail price, so we can trace how far the boutique price has climbed. A 29 cm A92991 carried a Malaysian retail price of RM 15,670 in early 2020 and RM 19,250 by 2021; a 24 cm A92990 was RM 14,520 in late 2019. The most recent Malaysian reference we have is Bragmybag's 2026 price list, which puts the boutique price at approximately RM 26,100 for the Mini (AS2215), RM 28,500 for the A92990, RM 31,150 for the A92991 and RM 36,120 for the Maxi (A92992) in calfskin with a calfskin handle. In other words, the 29 cm has roughly doubled at retail in six years. For context, Chanel's US site currently lists the three larger sizes at US$6,700, US$7,200 and US$7,900, and the Mini at £4,870 in the UK. Prices move with each Chanel increase, so treat these as a snapshot — and remember that, like Hermès, Chanel in Malaysia sits above Japan and Europe with no VAT refund to soften it.

What Coco Handles have actually sold for at Glampot

Asking prices tell you what a seller hopes for. Sold prices tell you what the market pays. We have sold 29 Coco Handles since 2017 — 18 of them the 29 cm size — and the figures below are the realised selling prices from our own invoices, not listings. Where an invoice recorded only a size name, we have mapped it to the style code using the chart above.

A few things stand out. The Small commands the premium. Every 24 cm we have sold since late 2022 has cleared RM 20,000, and a black chevron with a genuine lizard handle reached RM 24,999 in November 2024. The 29 cm is the value size. Through 2023 it sold between RM 14,200 and RM 18,700 depending on colour, handle and condition, and even the best examples sat comfortably below the Small. It is not a soft market either: the same size was selling for RM 10,787–12,700 in 2020, so realised prices for the 29 cm rose by roughly RM 5,000 in three years. The 32 cm is scarce — two sales in nine years — and the most recent, a microchipped black caviar in October 2025, went for RM 20,000.

Two practical conclusions. If you want the most bag for your ringgit, buy the 29 cm: our current 29 cm listing sits at roughly half of the boutique price for the same bag. If you want the strongest price when you eventually sell, buy the Small in black — ideally with a lizard handle and the box, card and receipt — because that is the configuration our buyers have paid the most for, year after year.

How to Check the Size (and the Bag) Before You Buy Pre-Owned

Read the code, not the title. Ask the seller for a photo of the box label or the original receipt and match the first six characters of the reference against the chart above. If the listing says "Mini" and the code starts A92990, it is a Small.

Measure the width across the base. Sellers photograph bags from angles that flatter them. A tape measure across the bottom edge — 19, 24, 29 or 33 cm — settles the size in seconds.

Check the handle. Genuine lizard has irregular, slightly raised scales; embossed calfskin repeats a perfectly regular pattern. Neither is "wrong", but they are priced differently, and a piece advertised as lizard should look like lizard.

Look at the corners and the chain. Caviar wears best, but the four bottom corners are where grain loss shows first, and the leather threaded through the chain is where colour transfer and cracking appear. Our condition grades are explained in full on our condition grading page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Chanel Coco Handle discontinued?

No. The Mini (AS2215), Small (A92990), Large (A92991) and Maxi (A92992) are all listed on Chanel's website as part of the current permanent collection. The only discontinued size is the extra-large A92993, and the genuine lizard-skin handle was retired around 2019.

What is the most popular Coco Handle size?

The Small (A92990, 24 cm) is the size most guides single out as the sweet spot between capacity and wearability, and it is the one most often mislabelled as "Mini" in listings. In our own Malaysian sales records the 29 cm is the size we have sold most often, but the Small is the size that has fetched the highest prices.

Is the Coco Handle Mini the same as the Extra Mini?

Not quite. Chanel's Mini is style AS2215 (13 × 19 × 9 cm). "Extra Mini" is a reseller term that is used for two different things: sometimes the AS2215 itself, and sometimes the much smaller AP4244 that we call the Micro. Always confirm the code.

What does a pre-owned Chanel Coco Handle cost in Malaysia?

Based on Glampot's realised sales, a 24 cm Small in black has sold for RM 20,500–24,999 between late 2022 and 2025, a 29 cm for RM 14,200–18,700 in 2023, and a 32 cm for RM 20,000 in October 2025. Boutique retail in Malaysia is reported at roughly RM 26,000–36,000 depending on size.

Does the Coco Handle hold its value?

Based on our sales records, the Small in black holds its value best — every one we have sold since late 2022 has cleared RM 20,000 — while the 29 cm trades at a steeper discount to retail. Realised prices for the 29 cm nonetheless rose by roughly RM 5,000 between 2020 and 2023. It is not a Classic Flap or a Birkin in appreciation terms, but a Small bought pre-owned at the right price gives up the least when it is time to sell.

Can the Coco Handle be worn crossbody?

Yes. Every size comes with a chain-and-leather strap; it is detachable on current production but fixed on some early pieces. The Mini and Small sit naturally crossbody, while the 29 cm and Maxi are more comfortable on the shoulder or carried by hand.
