Resale Price
Index

What authenticated preloved luxury handbags actually sell for in Malaysia

Most published "resale value" figures are asking prices scraped from listings. This index is built the other way round: every number below comes from a completed, invoiced sale at Glampot, one of Malaysia's largest luxury consignment stores (trusted since 2007), authenticated before listing. Prices are what a buyer in Malaysia paid, in ringgit, after any discount.

Key Findings

The headline number
The typical preloved luxury handbag in Malaysia changes hands at RM1,880. Half of all bags sold fell between RM800 and RM4,050. Medians, not averages — so a single Birkin does not drag the number.
Chanel
Chanel is the price anchor. Brand median RM7,800, and the Classic Flap alone cleared a median of RM14,720 with a typical range of RM10,500–19,000. The Boy sits at RM7,000 and the GST at RM7,330. Chanel's brand median rose 34% between the two halves of the year.
Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton is the most-traded brand, and the Speedy the most-traded model. Speedy median RM3,800; the Pochette Métis (RM5,800) and Noé (RM5,400) command the premiums, the Alma the entry point (RM2,500). LV's brand median sits at RM3,360.
Hermès
Hermès trades high. Brand median RM11,910. Birkins and Kellys realised between roughly RM30,000 and RM75,000 depending on size, leather and hardware; the Picotin is the accessible entry to the house.
Prada & the mid-market
Prada's Galleria is the quiet bestseller. The Saffiano Lux tote is the second most-traded single model after the Speedy, at a median of RM1,280 — the clearest "first luxury bag" price point in the data. Dior's Lady Dior sits at RM5,860, Gucci's GG Marmont at RM2,900, Balenciaga's City at RM2,300.
Under RM1,000
Nearly a third of the market is under RM1,000. 31% of bags sold below that line, led by Coach (median RM400), Furla (RM310), Michael Kors (RM280) and Kate Spade (RM270). Contemporary brands are where preloved buying starts.
Momentum
Prices held. The all-bag median was flat between the two halves of the year (RM1,899 → RM1,880). Against the same three months a year earlier, June–August medians were up 11.9%.

Realised Prices by Brand

Brands with at least 10 bags sold in the window. "Typical range" is the middle half of sales (25th–75th percentile). "6-mo shift" compares the median of Mar–Aug 2026 with Sep 2025–Feb 2026 and is shown only where both halves are well sampled; it moves with the mix of models sold, so read it alongside the model rows. Year-on-year compares Jun–Aug 2026 with Jun–Aug 2025.

Methodology

Source
Completed sales invoiced at Glampot (Mid Valley KL boutique and e-glampot.com) between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, taken from our accounting records. No listings, no asking prices, no estimates.
What counts as a handbag
Bags, totes, clutches and pouch-bags. Wallets and small leather goods, shoes, accessories such as scarves, belts, jewellery and bag charms, apparel and watches are excluded from every figure on this page.
Price
The invoiced selling price in Malaysian ringgit, after any discount, before delivery charges. Items under RM100 are excluded. Returns later credited are not netted out in this edition; they are a small share of sales.
Statistics
Medians throughout, because luxury resale is skewed: one Birkin moves an average by hundreds of ringgit and tells you nothing about a Speedy. Ranges are the middle 50% of sales. Brand rows need at least 10 sales in the window and model rows at least 8; individual sample sizes are not published.
What this is not
A single retailer's realised prices, authenticated and condition-graded to Glampot's rubric. It is the best available record of what preloved luxury actually sells for in Malaysia, but it is not a survey of every channel, and a bag's own condition, year and hardware can put it well outside these ranges.
Cadence
Quarterly. Edition 2 is scheduled for December 2026.
